We caught up with Lewis Warne to gain an insight into his life as a Ridgeons apprentice. Before joining Ridgeons, Lewis had been an apprentice within the retail sector where he gained an NVQ in retail. This was a great starting point, but wasn’t the career he wanted to pursue in the long run.
After seeing a Ridgeons apprenticeship advertised online, Lewis took the opportunity to apply. He was also particularly interested in the ‘Warehousing and Storage’ NVQ that was being offered along with it.
Despite having no previous experience within the construction industry, over the course of his apprenticeship Lewis gained a wealth of industry and product knowledge and credits the exceptional Ridgeons team for their support. He is currently based at the Martlesham Heath branch.
Lewis said, “The opportunity has confirmed that this is the career for me. I really enjoy my day to day work life and my highlight has been building strong working relationships with both customers and colleagues. After the apprenticeship has finished, I would like to have completed my NVQ and continue to progress at Ridgeons within an operational role.”
Lewis praised the ‘learn while you earn’ principle and encourages others to go after an apprenticeship if it’s something they think would suit them.
